Are you looking for games like Genshin Impact ? If the answer to that question is “YES” then I can surely help you out.
Genshin Impact is a game which took the world by storm. In the times of COVID – 19 Pandemic, Genshin Impact has dazzled players with its marvelous world and execution of game play.
It is an action role playing game in which the player gets to choose among two twins. The story starts off by the player’s other twin being separated due to an unknown entity.
This leads to the player starting a journey in a magic world named Teyvat. Accompanying the player is a mystical fairy named Paimon who offers advice on various situations and scenarios faced by the player.
The game play closely resembles Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. For instance, the climbing mechanic allows you to scale every single structure you can find.
Elemental manipulations are another amazing part of the game. There are seven elements in the game. Different characters which are unlockable in the game use these elements in their arsenal to their advantage.
Some monsters are weak to some elements and strong to some depending on their affinity. What’s even more exciting is that you can combo between different elements.
For example, combining wind and ice gives rise to a destructive combo. Electricity and ice leads to superconductivity. Ice and water freezes the enemies etc etc. These combinations make the game even more fun to play.
The game gives free reign to the player for exploring the world of Teyvat. But, the characters are obtained through a gacha system. The game offers free rolls for the gacha but the probabilities are still low. So, grinding for these materials is a necessity.
The visuals and soundtrack of the game are amazing in their own right. The environment changes from place to place. The world is divided into several sub regions according to their elements. The player can change their element by praying at statues present in these regions.
Finally, the best part about this game is that it is free to play. It is available to play on Android, iOS, Windows and PlayStation 4 for now.
Games like Genshin Impact
Now, we are going to start with the topic of the article, which is games like Genshin Impact. With the introduction on what Genshin Impact is, is over( for those unfamiliar with Genshin Impact), let’s get started with games similar to Genshin Impact.
1. Phantasy Star Online 2
First on the list of games like Genshin Impact, we have Phantasy Star Online 2.
Phantasy Star Online 2 is an action role playing game. The player starts off by choosing a server called “Ship”. After that, you can customize it to your liking. Race, name, gender, appearance, character class etc are the options of choice here.
The game features a class system. There are 9 classes which can be changed whenever you desire. Usage of skills in combat and the like will increase proficiency in the class. Keep in mind that the progress in one class does not carry over to the other classes.
The story of the game involves a war between an organization called the Oracle and the Falspawn who seek the destruction of the universe. The player has to undergo a variety of missions to bring the fight to these alien beings.
The missions in the game are akin to JRPGS being that a level will have multiple enemies and a boss. The player has a party of 4 characters who must work together to clear a mission.
Combat in the game is relatively simple. The player and his party have weapons and can use skills depending on their class. Either to support their team by applying various buffs, healing etc or damaging enemies.
Phantasy Star Online 2 has received an anime adaptation in 2016 if you are interested.
The game is free to play and is available on Windows, PSVita, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 4. Give it a try and see if it is to your liking.
2. The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild
Next on the list of games like Genshin Impact, we have The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild.
With a first glance on BotW, we can find so many similarities between it and Genshin Impact.
For instance, the huge colorful open world, the climbing mechanics, the physics engine, elemental combinations and the like.
But, what sets BotW apart from all its competitors is the lack of spoon feeding in the game.
The game encourages the player to look for their own solution to completing any task the game throws at them. The dungeons are non linear, meaning they do not have a specific entrance or exit.
The story too, plays out in a non linear fashion. The player is free to explore the world at their own pace. Completing a variety of quests, opening up way points for fast travel or just running around defeating enemies.
BotW does not restrict or hand hold the player into going to a specific place for something. There are tons of things to be collected which will increase the player’s stats in some way or the other.
Be it health, stamina, magic etc etc.
Even the combat system has a lot (by that I mean a lot) of ways to handle situations. First off, you can snipe your enemies from a distance. Or engage in melee combat.
Or use magic to annihilate your foes. You can even paraglide on top of them and launch a surprise attack. Roll boulders onto them to defeat them in one go. The possibilities are endless.
The game takes inspiration from modern open world games and is an top notch example of a good open world game. Nintendo has really outdone themselves on creating The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild.
So, if you are looking for something similar to Genshin Impact, this is your best bet. The game is available only on the Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
3. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
Last on the list of games like Genshin Impact is Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.
The plot of the game follows Oliver, a young boy who has to endure a harsh journey to ave his mother from an ancient evil.
Similar to Genshin Impact, the game features a large open world in which the player is free to explore.
There are tons of quests to completed, dungeons to be explored and many many other spots for adventuring.
From the start, the game offers zero restrictions for the player. So, the player is free to explore the whole game world if they wished to. But, other easier means of transport gradually unlock later in the game which make this task much easier.
While exploring the world, the player can encounter dangerous monsters. But, unlike Genshin Impact the combat does not play out as a normal RPG.
The game’s combat system is turn based RPG like. Meaning, the player can use a single move with each member of their party. Be it a normal attack, magic skill, guard etc.
After that it will be the enemies turn and they’ll do the same. After winning the combat encounter, the player is awarded with gold, experience or even useful items.
The game has an element called Familiars. These are creatures which can be tamed in the wild and can be used in combat to make the process easier. Several upgrades and rewards await players who patiently explore the game world.
All in all, Ni no Kuni : Wrath of the White Witch is an excellent game. If you are looking for something to scratch the itch of playing games like Genshin Impact. Might as well give Ni no Kuni a try.
The game is available on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Windows. Check it out and give it a try.
In conclusion, Genshin Impact has turned out to be a massive hit in these latest times. Within 1 month of world wide release, Genshin Impact had a revenue of around $250 million.
That is quite a lot for a mainly mobile game with gacha elements.
Even though Genshin Impact gets so many aspects of making a good game down right. It does suffer from its share of problems.
First one is the resin system which basically locks out players from continuously playing the game. For those who are not aware of it, resin in Genshin Impact is similar to the energy system you can find in other games.
After depleting your resin, you are locked out from several patches of content till it replenishes back. It takes 8 minutes for a single resin to pop up. For reference, you need 20 resin for the most basic task.
Another problem is the low pay out gacha system.
The developers have addressed these issues in patches, but that remains to be seen on how much improvement that can bring.
But, even with these flaws, Genshin Impact is definitely an amazing game. I urge people who haven’t tried it yet to give it a go. So these were the games like Genshin Impact, check them out and see if any are to your liking.
